  • Best apartment complex I've ever lived in. The staff are incredibly nice, from the front desk to the maintenance crew. Super dog and cat friendly. Gene (the head of maintenance) will introduce himself to your dog to make them more comfortable with him. There are very few bugs (I've seen maybe two roaches in my year here), and it is always beautifully green and landscaped. They are always improving the complex, and just put in new sliding doors. There's no in-unit laundry machines, but the laundry facilities are nice and if one is full, the other will be open. The gym is very clean! (And usually empty) There's not a ton of equipment, but what there is will suffice for those looking to save money. If you need more, LA fitness is walking distance. 5 minutes. So is Fry's. Oh, and Colter Park is across the street. Best place to let your dog get some exercise and play fetch. Also, year round heated pools! With nice poolside lounge chairs! Love love love this place. It's the only apartment I've never wanted to leave.

I lived at Colter Park for a little over two years. I rented a studio (470 sq feet). In a little over two years, my rent went from $610 to $725. When I first moved in, my apartment was infested with roaches. I had exterminators come spray once a week and after a few months they finally agreed to bomb the apartment. They bombed, and also gross neighbors upstairs and next to me moved out and so did the cockroaches! Cleaner neighbors moved in and roach issue went away. (Thank God or else I would have moved out ASAP). Maintenance is generally pretty good. There seems to be a high turnover rate in the office, so a lot of new people don't really know what their talking about and may give you an incorrect answer. They were very slow to process paperwork with my 2 lease renewals (it took them months). Walls are VERY thin. If you have a dog that barks, don't move here. We got one in the last month we lived there and several neighbors complained about our dog barking. People throw trash bags not in dumpsters but in the trash cans around the complex. There obviously not supposed to do that. About a year ago, maintenance searched the trash cans to try to find out who's trash it is (to fine them) and they actually left a note on my door saying that I might receive a fine because I threw junk mail flyers into the trash can! This was really insulting. There are always homeless people in the dumpsters - the locks on gates seem to always be broken. One time, a drunk homeless person wandered into my neighbors porch late at night. Colter Park is right in between a bad neighborhood and a decent one. All in all, Colter Park is a nice apartment if you have clean neighbors (no cockroaches), no barking dog, and you work with someone in the office who has been there a while and knows what their talking about.
